A WELCOME LETTER FROM MARGARET MAHDI
Greetings!
Dear Potential Supporter:
On behalf of Mahdi Theatre Company (MTC), I write to introduce to you The Mahdi Theatre
Company, and to seek your financial support for a fantastic original performance of The World
Premiere of BRONZEVILLE- The Musical, written and directed by Margaret Mahdi.
The show is scheduled to open at the prestigious Auditorium Theatre, “The Theatre For The
People” located 50 East Ida B. Wells Drive, Chicago, IL 60605 in October 2020.
Our next goal is to take this uniquely, one of a kind musical to Broadway, New York, and then on
a Worldwide tour. Your financial support will enable us to make a historical statement.
BRONZEVILLE – The Musical is alive, magnanimous in spirit, and deeply soulful. Including a
number of spell-bounding, jazzy, gospel, and contemporary infused sounds incorporated in the
original songs, written and produced by some of the leading names in the Chicago musical
community. A display of authentic, innovative, show stopping choreography led by distinguished
choreographers are a must see in this production. All these creative components combined with
rising theatrical triple-threats provide the storyline’s passion!
The purpose for BRONZEVILLE – The Musical is to enlighten, entertain, educate and provide
inspiration to the public of the significant movement of the Great Migration and how this powerful
undertaking trail-blazed and gave birth to the urban, yet thriving community of –BRONZEVILLE
located in the heart of the Southside of Chicago. It was through the powerful wave of The Great
Migration that Black southerners, were inspired to take their dreams of securing better lives of
opportunist promise to northern cities, particularly to Chicago. The migrant’s impeccable journey
later permitted them, in their unity to create a cultural revolution in arts, politics, education, and
economics that ultimately impact All people! This enchanting story must now, be showcased to
the world. Hence, this is the first time in history a musical narrative is created about the Chicago’s
BRONZEVILLE “Black Metropolis”.
We were divinely Blessed to premiere the musical at the iconic Chicago Theater, selling out the
3,553 seat venue on February 27, 2016. Thereafter, the production was featured during the
crowning event of Black History month in Detroit, Michigan at Cobo Convention Center to a sold-
out audience, February 17, 2017. The presentation traveled through-out the city of Chicago for the
consecutive 2 years, including performances at the historic DuSable Museum of African American
History and The Reva and David Logan Center for The Arts. The positive and electric
responsiveness from all validated the production’s purpose!
Currently, we are seeking to request the participation of Ms. India Arie, Jill Scott, and Angie Stone
who we trust will emphatically include feverish, down-to-earth vibes to this production as they are
known for their neo-soul artistry, genuine-connection with their fans, and world class personalities.
